Today’s the (Release) Day!

It all started some years ago when a closed carousel led to a story about where the rides had gone. It went a little like this:

Going to the merry-go-round would be so much fun — but all the rides are missing! Where did they go? Looking for the rides, Caroline and Alex are tired, grumpy and about to quit when…suddenly…a very dusty car appears. One by one, the rides return from their travels around the world. It turns out to be a wonderful day after all.

And after a few more years, SUMMER-GO-ROUND is now available on kindle. If you have small children, grand-children, nieces, nephews, and/or young friends — especially if they are bored and love to go places — this is for you.

  1. Summer-go-round is an enchanting story, skilfully written by Mme Marques. The text is perfectly pitched for her target audience of 4-6 year olds. We follow the initially tired and grumpy Caroline and Alexander as they wander through the park, looking for rides that have so mysteriously disappeared. Then, with masterful timing, the author brings them back – each one telling a fascinating tale about far-off places. Not only does this reflect the talented Mme Marques’ well-travelled cultural history and experiences, but it also brilliantly engages the adult reading the story and, I feel sure, the child who is lucky enough to be listening to it. Félicitations for such a beautiful début which I feel sure will be a bestseller in bookstores around the world. Compliments also to the exquisite illustrations – Alix Moity has done perfect justice to the creative narrative.

  2. This is a beautiful story about imagination and magic coming together to make two bored children very happy. This is perfectly pitched at all young children as they can have it read to them or when they’re ready they can read it themselves. What I love about it is that it gives the opportunity to engage in conversations about the world that we live in and the people who inhabit it. A great debut, perfectly illustrated by Alix Moity. I hope this becomes a physical book.
